I'm a happy RN married to a hardworking resident. We have recently become Carolina fans and are adding the color "carolina" blue to our wardrobe and home. I love the east coast and couldn't be happier living in hot, sticky climate. I was raised on a farm/ranch with two wonderful parents and three fun loving older sisters. I went to a one room country school house down the dusty dirt road with grand total of three in my class. Life in the country was rich, meaningful, and simple, just the way I like it. So from country farmgirl to coastal bell, here I am, living life and loving it!

Splish Splash

Mimi had some fun shopping for Jonah while Tim and I were out of town last week.  He got a a new baby pool and loves it.  We have been to the beach once this summer and the pool a handful of times and Jonah is not a fan of the water.  He will play around the pool but will not get in, little stinker!  So Mimi got him a little pool and it is perfect for him.  Not so intimidating and easy access in and out.  So here he is so happy splashing around in his new pool.  Thanks Mimi!!

Just love that little smile.  This was after we went to the zoo and Jonah ran around like a crazy man all day.  We got home and he still had an amazing amount of energy.  Here he is enjoying his very own pool!

And he enjoyed splashing and getting water all over.  What a sweet and happy face!

Happy, happy, happy, is what this little boy is!  We are loving summer here in North Carolina.

Zoo Fun

Tim was post-call last week so we decided to take his mom to the zoo.  It is an amazing zoo with lots of exhibits and animals to see.  This time we did a few little extras that we have never done (thanks mimi!!) and we go to gon on the carousel and do the dinosaur walk.  Jonah loved both.  The Dinosaur walk was pretty amazing.  So many different ones and they made noise and moved, Jonah loved it but was a little afraid.  I got some good shots of him totally enthralled and looking so intently.  It was fun day and we are so glad we were able to take Mimi.

 My two favorite boys!!!

We stayed at the monkeys a long time.  Jonah loves monkeys and had a blast just running around.  Once we started out on the trail and saw the lions it was all over from there, he was out of the stroller and running at full speed!

We are on the dinosaur trail here.  He loved them but held on very tight to Mimi.  They looked so real to him and he was focused the entire time!

The elephants were our last stop.  Tim and I both love the elephants and we figured this was a great sopt for a background.  Isn't the animal habitat amazing.  They have so much space to roam and are so free and pretty to watch walk around.  I'm kind of like a kid, love going to the zoo!

Fun with Mim on the "train."  Jonah gets so excited to ride the tram which takes your from the North American animals to the African animals.  But he loves to ride it and calls it the choo choo!

Big Boy Firsts

It was been a wonderful 10 days with Mimi here.  I have been able to workout every morning without having to take Jonah to daycare, shopped till I dropped, drank coffee by myself while plunging into yet another magazine (which I am obsessed with reading), got my hair cut, been on some amazing runs minus a bob stoller and baby, and slept in.  Thank you so much Mimi for the amazing care and and love you give Jonah.  I have enjoyed staying close to home as well and talking with Mimi on the back deck while Jonah splashes around in the pool.  We took a trip out to shop just the three of us.  And lots of good dinners and quality time.  It has been a wonderful 10 days and I am so thankful for our time.  Jonah is very loved and we are so glad we will be going back to beautiful Montana in 3 weeks to do this all again.

So this is not our first time having ice cream, but the first time having the ice cream cups.  Jonah is not a huge fan of sweets (which I am ok with) but he loved all the yummies that Mimi bought him.  It was so cute how sweet he was enjoying his afternoon treat!

And then we took a trip out shopping and brought home this!!!  Jonah's first Schwinn bike which he loves so much.  Thank you Mimi for the great gift.

And then we had a little playdate with his girlfriend Lillia.  This was a great solution to them not waning to share.  Lillia drove and Jonah could be a wild man and ride on the back.  So cute!

Asheville Getaway

It's time for some catching up on my blog!  It's been a fun crazy 7 days because Mimi is in town and we are having a blast.  She got here Wednesday and we have been running ever since.  Every year the Anesthesia group sends the senior residents to Asheville (or wherever the conference in that year) for a graduation gift to attend the Anesthesia conference of North Carolina and South Carolina.  So this year it was in Asheville and they paid for our hotel and gas and some food money.  We were able to make a fun trip with little money, score!  We arrived Thursday afternoon and Tim and I were able to hangout, just the two of us.  We went to Tupelo Honey for dinner, (amazing food and one of my most absolute favorite places to eat) watched a little concert in the park, walked around downtown Asheville and stayed up until 10pm in our hotel room watching HGTV, best night ever!!  No room sharing with the little babe and no going to bed at 7:30:)  Plus it was so relaxing knowing he was in such good hands.

Then Friday we slept in, which was another amazing thing, had a quiet relaxing breakfast and hit the golf course.  There was golfing, chatting, eating, more eating, lounging by the pool, magazine reading (the hollywood, catch up on all the dirt, get fit, tell you what to eat, People magazine) and the more sophisticated Martha Stewart (who I still love) that told me what to cook and how to decorate.  That night we met up with all Tim's classmates and some spouses and ate at the Lobster Trap.  Another one of my most favorite places to eat in Asheville.  I am always a sucker for lobster, crab, and seafood for that matter.  After the Lobster Trap we hit the town.  We had some drinks, ate a little more, and enjoyed a fun fun evening.  We didn't go to bed until 12:30, but it was so great to enjoy another evening out.

Saturday we slept in again, watched some more tv from bed (something I love to do when staying at hotels), did a little antiqueing (I wanted everything in the Tobacco Barn), and ate one more totally relaxing meal together.  Then we checked out and realized we could hardly wait to get home to Jonah!  It was such a great time away that Tim and I really needed.  We had a great time and laughed about how life used to be so easy when it was just the two of us, BUT we were so happy to see Jonah and couldn't wait to see our little bear.  Thanks so much Mimi for watching Jonah I know you both had a great time!  I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked (always the case) but here are a few from our trip away.

Chris and Jeff talking a drive in the golf cart ready to hit some balls!

It has been a long four years, but such a fun journey with some great people.  Tim has really had a great experience at UNC and has become really close with most of his classmates.  This weekend was really good for everyone for have one last time together.

Date night with my honey.  It was so fun to fix my hair (which I have not done is forever) put a little makeup on, and get dressed up.  Asheville is such a pretty town and it was great to be back for a visit.

These two goofs are best buds.  Chris's wife was not able to come with him for the weekend so he hung with us.  He is so much fun and He and Tim well, as you can see, have a fun time together!

He is 22 months

Well my little baby turned 22 months yesterday. I am a little behind getting this post up but wanted to celebrate Jonah and report what he has been up to these days.  He has been loving the outdoors!  Lots of time at home in the drive-way playing with his cars, bubbles, transferring dirt from trucks to buckets, rolling and throwing balls, and enjoying his time outside to the fullest. We have been staying close to home because he has been discovering more these days and its so nice to just be at home.  We make it to a few parks during the week, have a play-date scheduled here and there, and play at the pool with his cousins.   Jonah is such a joy and I am really enjoying my time with him right now.  We had a few rough weeks of teething, sickness, and waking up a lot at night.  But he has been sleeping through the night and sleeping in until 6:30 which is a treat since it had been a 5:00 am wake-up call.  He is starting to say more words and and putting things together which is so neat to see how he is advancing and growing up!  Jonah is 23 pounds and has 16 of his 20 teeth.  We will be happy when he gets those molars and is DONE teething.  He still sleeps in his crib and now he only has his pacifier for naps and bedtime.  My baby is getting so big.  Well that is a little about our little man.  Happy 22 months Jonah!  LOVE, LOVE,  LOVE you!!!
