The Berry Patch

We went Strawberry picking with the cousins last week.  It was a beautiful day and we picked lots of strawberries to take home.  Jonah had a blast picking the strawberries and was putting them in his mouth as fast as he was picking them.  He had fun following his cousins around and we enjoyed the rest of the day together.

Sister's Gone Wild

Laura and I got the chance to go visit plantations on Saturday.  Can you say "yipeeeeee!"  We both love history, the Civil War, and wish that we lived on plantations.  So since Kurt was so sweet and offered to watch Jonah and kids for the day we took him up on his offer and headed on our "Sister's gone wild" trip.  Tim was in Montana interviewing for a job so I was needing anything I could find to keep Jonah and I occupied while he was out of town.  We woke up early Saturday morning and hit the road.  We both have been to Williamsburg and on your way home from Williamsburg there about 10 plantations you can visit along the way.  When Laura last visited she has three young children so she didn't get to stop at any of them.  When I last visited Jonah was 3 months old and we didn't get to stop at any. So this was make-up time and we had a wonderful day together!

 Out first stop was the Shirley Plantation.  It was the most beautiful and our favorite.  The house was amazing and it had such pretty grounds.  Laura spent out time planning our next family reunion right here.  Yeah right we wish!

Our next stop was the Berkley plantation.  The house was not as pretty as the Shirley Plantation but this place had amazing grounds.  It was so beautiful with a great walk to the river.  There was actually a wedding later that evening.  I would have loved to have seen how that all turned out!

This is a picture of the kitchen.  And the sign with the hole explained a cannon ball had been lodged in the kitchen from the civil war.  That was pretty neat to see.

The Berkley plantation has been in many families since the 1600's.  Unfortunately the families never had a lot of money so it has taken a lot for them to keep it up and open to the public.  We realized on our plantation tour that a lot of the plantations are no longer open to the public because of how much it costs to run them and keep them open.  So sad since we love history and touring plantations so much.

Our yummy lunch.  It was so nice to sit down and eat a meal without having to feed someone else, rush through our meal, or deal with any meltdowns.  We had some great food as well.  I got the spinach, walnut, apple, and goat cheese salad.  Oh yes right up my ally!

And the last plantation we got to visit, because we took so long touring the ones before, was the Kittiewan plantation.  This one was off the beaten path which has recently been taken over by the Archeological Society of VA.  It wasn't as grand on the outside but very ornate on the inside.

It was such a fun little trip and we had a great time together.

Hotdog's Anyone?

I am a little behind on my pictures so I am slowly catching up.  Since Tim was gone last weekend I spent the weekend with the Mosley clan!!  We had a fun filled day on Friday starting off with swimming, which Jonah didn't really love, he just wanted to play around the pool.  I am hoping maybe a few more times to the pool and he will be ready to get in the water.  Then we headed back to my sister's for a nice little bonfire and BBQ.  The weather was perfect and the weenies were cooked to perfection.  There was lots of swinging, sliding, football games, toy pushing, and doggy piles!  Thanks Mosley's for putting us up for two nights!

Joshua is such a big helper with Jonah.  And Jonah loves Joshua so they make a pretty good team!

After a busy day at the pool and lots of playing outside, Jonah pounded a 1.5 hotdogs, chips, and 3 helpings of fruit!  Oh boy I can just imagine what it will look like in 10 years!!

 There are so many new things to play with at the Mosley's.  And for some reason Jonah loves helmets, I guess this will be very helpful in a few years.

Me and my Boy!

Tim was away for a few days so it was just Jonah and I.  We did pretty good without him but were so ready to see him when he got home.  Those of you who have kids know how wonderful they are, but that you also know you need a break.  I was able to go over to my sisters for some of the time as well and we had a blast there.  We pretty much just played outside because it's Jonah's favorite place to be and the weather was so pretty.  Here are some random shots from our few days alone!


I was cleaning house and Jonah found the outlet safety plug.  He thought it looked like his pacifier and tried sucking on it like one.  I had to take a picture.  Then he gave it back to me and said, "ouch!"

We ventured outside and were playing on the slide when I noticed this huge turtle behind Jonah.  We went and checked it out.  It was a female because we went back an hour or so later and she had laid an egg.  But I didn't get a picture of the egg, and pretty soon both the mom and egg were gone.

Our new favorite thing is his sand table from Mimi and Papa.  We played outside taking sand from the table to his truck to wherever he could think of.  It was pretty cute watching him have so much fun!
