I'm a happy RN married to a hardworking resident. We have recently become Carolina fans and are adding the color "carolina" blue to our wardrobe and home. I love the east coast and couldn't be happier living in hot, sticky climate. I was raised on a farm/ranch with two wonderful parents and three fun loving older sisters. I went to a one room country school house down the dusty dirt road with grand total of three in my class. Life in the country was rich, meaningful, and simple, just the way I like it. So from country farmgirl to coastal bell, here I am, living life and loving it!

North Carolina ZOO!

Our little family of three went to the zoo a few weeks ago.  It was our first time going to the North Carolina Zoo, in Asheboro, and WOW was it amazing.  My husband likes to know facts about everything so on the way we looked up all there was to know about the zoo with a yummy cup of coffe to start the day out right.  We learned that the North Carolina zoo is the largest zoo in the world.  That is the largest in acres.  I think it is something like 1700 acres.  That is big for a zoo!  And it has some pretty cool animal and exhibits.  We throughly enjoyed our day there and are looking forward to going back!  Here are few pics from our day at the zoo!

The entrance to the zoo reminded Tim and I a lot of Animal Kingdom at Disney World.  It was really neat and this is zoo is well done.  And our visit made us want to go back to Disney World.  How about Disney 2013?!

I love African Violets.  I think they are such a pretty plant and have such a vibrant bloom.  But they are especially special to me because my Grandma Virginia grew the most beautiful ones you have ever seen. She had tons like 20 or more, and they were all over her house.  She had such a green thumb and I aspire to be just like her when it comes to growing beautiful things!

Momma and her baby!  This little guy was born January of this year of man was he cute!

This guy reminds me of the Lion King.  Which by the way that is one of my all time favorite Disney movies!  So good!

Thats my bugga bear!!

Because our family loves turtles!!

So tired from riding in the stroller all day!  He loved the trip to the zoo!

Mr. Bear totally entertaining the crowd!

Pier 1 Must Haves

As Jonah takes his morning nap I once again get nothing done but check my email and peruse through the many blogs that I follow.  I guess you could say this is my time to sit and do what I want and relax a little bit over a much needed cup of coffee.  I was up at 6 am, for the little man was wide awake!!  One the blogs that I follow is offering a $100 giftcard to pier 1, one of my favorite stores for bright and fun outdoor accents.  We have a nice back deck that is so enjoyable to sit out at night.  Tim grills, Jonah plays, and I enjoy a glass of wine.  But it needs a little bit of color.  I planted tons of flowers which add some color, but I would love a few throw pillows and a rug.  I have been wanting a rug for a long time to go on my deck, but they are all pricey.  If I got this giftcard that is what I would buy, a fun, colorful rug.  So with this post I might have a chance to win.  All I have to do is share on the bloggers page that I blogged about it and I am in the drawing!  Here are a few things I like!

1.  I am going to do a turtle theme birthday party for Jonah's 1st birthday.  And I want to do aqua and
lime.  I think these would be so cute for his party!

2.  I love this rug for my deck.  I am going with the colors aqua and green and already have a few things,
but oh would this rug would tie it all in!

2.  I also would like a few more pieces or outdoor serving dishes.  I have some glasses and a drink tub,
but would like a few more things to add to my collection and to serve the food.

So there you have it.   A few fun summer things for the deck.  Pictures of our trip to the zoo to come next.  ( I know I said that in the last post!)

Family Pictures

I had been wanting to do 6 month pictures for Jonah so I found a deal on a blog I follow for a free sitting fee and thought I would look into it.  It turns out the lady only does natural lighting and does have a studio.  I was not sure this is what I wanted, but decided to give her a try.  The only problem was she does all her pictures outside and Jonah turned six months in February.  It was going to be hard to find a day that would be nice enough to have Jonah outside.  It ended up we had to reschedule twice due to weather, but it all turned out because Jonah was really closer to 7 months and was sitting up really well by that point.  So we got the pictures done and I am so happy with how they turned out.  Here are a few of my favorites!

The lady who did our pictures is Casey Rose and she owns Casey Rose photography.  She did a great job and I like the natural lighting look of all the pictures.

Home Again

Wow, I don't even know where to start.  It has been forever since I last posted and I really don't even know where to begin.  It has been a crazy month but a fun one seeing lots of friends and family.  Our travels started out by visiting my Mom's family in Texas.  It was great to see my wonderful grandparents and get to spend our first Easter ever with them.  We stayed for five days and had fun visiting, eating, and seeing family.   Our trips then took us to Denver where we got to spend a night with our dear friends, the Mayles, from medical school.  They have two sweet twin boys, Noah and Caleb, and one on the way, Olivia.  We visited and played games until one in the morning and we all agreed that it felt as though we had not seen each other for three months instead of 3 years.  Thank you so much Jonathan and Jillian for your hospitality.

Next our travels took us to Cheyenne, WY for Seth and Rianas wedding.  Seth and Tim have been best friends since college and Tim had the privilege of being a groomsmen in their wedding.   It was a beautiful wedding and and a little reunion for all of the Carroll College graduates to be together again.  Tim's mom came down for the wedding as well and was such a huge help because she watched Jonah for us all weekend.  Thank you Mimi.

We finally landed in Montana for a visit with Mimi and Papa, and Muzzie and Papa.  We spent a few days in Billings, and then drove to Ekalaka for a few days.  I was able to be a part of Jenny's baby shower which was so special.  I am so thankful I got to meet Blake as well and hold him for the first time.

Once we got back to North Carolina our travels were not over yet.  We had two days to get used the the time change, do some laundry, and pack the car again for a trip to Charleston, South Carolina.  Will and Emily were getting hitched on Kiawah Island and we were going to be there to celebrate with them.  We got to spend the weekend with Aunt Ro, Uncle John, Kristin and Bryan.  And once again Mimi was a life saver and watched our sweet Jonah so Tim and I could frolic and play one more time. It was beautiful wedding, great time spent with family, and so nice to have an evening away.  But we are SO happy to be home.  Jonah is finally getting onto a better schedule and we are enjoying the spring weather by grilling out every night, going on long morning runs, and we got to spend a day at the zoo (those pictures to come).  Anyway here are a few random pictures from our many travels!!  Ok so here are a lot of pictures from our travels.

Easter and family pictures in Texas.
